The institute was founded in 1994, initially offering an Arts faculty. In 2009, it expanded its offerings to include faculties in Science and Commerce. That same year, the Department of Zoology was inaugurated, offering undergraduate courses. Since then, the department has evolved to include a Postgraduate program in Zoology, alongside its undergraduate curriculum. Additionally, it now offers a certificate course focusing on aquarium fabrication and maintenance. Presently, the department boasts two well-equipped laboratories furnished with the necessary equipment, instruments, and specimens. Staffing includes four permanent faculty members and two contractual faculty members with the requisite qualifications. Of the four full-time faculty members, two hold Ph.D. degrees, while the remaining two possess NET/SET certifications. The department’s faculty members actively participate in research endeavors, publish books, and contribute significantly to the teaching, learning, and evaluation processes. The departments having stability in student enrolment near about 245 students are admitted for UG and PG program.
